The experience begins at our trusted costume rental shop in Siem Reap. Here, you’ll meet your photographer and be professionally fitted in authentic Khmer attire chosen to suit your style and preferences.

The fitting process is relaxed and typically takes around 30–45 minutes, allowing plenty of time to prepare before the photoshoot begins.

  • Traditional costume rental for 1 person is included in the package price.

Once everyone is ready, it’s time to head to Angkor Wat for the photoshoot. Your photographer will help ensure everything is prepared before departure, allowing the experience to run smoothly from start to finish.

Some guests choose to arrange their own transport using Grab or a local tuk tuk.

For added convenience, we recommend including private transport from your hotel to the costume rental shop, onward to Angkor Wat, and back to your hotel after the photoshoot.

Angkor Wat photographer can include this service in your package for added convenience.

With your traditional Khmer attire perfectly styled, the photoshoot begins at Angkor Wat. Your photographer will guide you throughout the session, helping with posing and creating beautiful images against the backdrop of one of the world’s most iconic temples.

The experience is suitable for individuals, couples, families, and groups, even if you’ve never taken part in a professional photoshoot before.

Our 2-hour package is the most popular option, providing enough time to capture a variety of portraits and make the most of your visit to Angkor Wat.

After the photoshoot, you’ll return to the costume rental shop to hand back your traditional Khmer attire. Once the costumes have been returned, the experience is complete and you’re free to continue exploring Siem Reap or enjoy the rest of your day.

If you’ve included transport in your package your private transport will take you back to your hotel, or can drop you at 1 destination within the Angkor archeological park.

Your images will then be professionally edited and delivered online according to our turnaround time, which is up to 3 weeks, but often much sooner.

We keep the process simple and well-organised, so you can focus on enjoying the experience. Timing is planned carefully, especially in the heat, to ensure comfort while still capturing the best light.

  • Your experience begins at a local boutique or studio for outfit fitting – you can meet your photographer there or we can arrange private transport
  • Changing and preparation usually takes 45–60 minutes
  • Hair and makeup can be arranged if requested
  • Once ready, we begin your photoshoot at Angkor Wat or selected

Best Time for a Traditional Dress Photoshoot

Early morning is strongly recommended.

Temperatures rise quickly in Siem Reap, and traditional outfits are layered and not designed for keeping you cool. A sunrise session allows for:

  • softer light
  • fewer crowds
  • a more comfortable experience in the outfit

Lighter colours and breathable fabrics are also chosen where possible to reduce visible sweat and maintain a polished look in photos.

If you choose to include transport, your driver will collect you from your hotel and you will meet your photographer at the traditional clothes rental shop, where he will assist you with outfit dressing.

Traditional Khmer dress photoshoots are usually held at Angkor Wat, Bayon Temple, Ta Prohm or other temples within the Angkor Archaeological Park. Your photographer can recommend the best location based on your preferred style and the time of day.

Traditional Khmer outfits are arranged through our trusted costume partners and 1 outfit is included photoshoot package. Each additional outfit is $30 USD. A range of styles, colours and accessories are available for women, men and children.

Shoes are not included with the traditional dress rental, so please bring your own. Simple, comfortable shoes or sandals are perfectly fine and are the easiest option for walking around the temples.

If you’d prefer to wear dress shoes or heels for the photos, we recommend travelling to the shoot in comfortable footwear and bringing your dress shoes in a small bag to change into. At some locations, you can also remove your shoes for the photographs.

Keep in mind that Angkor Wat has uneven stone surfaces, steps and quite a lot of walking, so comfort is important.

You may choose your traditional dress outfit from the available costumes at the shop where we will meet to rent your outfit.

We recommend bringing comfortable footwear, water, a small bag to put phones and other items in whilst you pose that you can put down easily, and any personal accessories you would like included in your photos. Your photographer will advise on any additional items based on your chosen package.

Normally our photoshoots at Angkor Wat take place in the early morning at about 6.30 or 7am to avoid heat and crowds, but any time of the day is possible.
